The Picoway laser can remove all kinds of tattoos, including black and dark-colored ink and difficult-to-remove colors like red, blue, and green. Because of its photo-acoustic (sound waves) technology, the Candela Picoway laser is safe to treat delicate areas such as the face.
How does the Candela Picoway laser remove a tattoo?
The Picoway laser uses ultra-short pulses of energy that target the pigment in the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. The pulses shatter the ink particles into tiny fragments, which are then naturally eliminated by the client’s natural immune system.
Is the Picoway laser safe for all skin types?
Yes, the Picoway laser is safe for all skin types, including darker skin tones. Regardless, a consultation with one of our tattoo removal experts is required to assess each client’s tattoo(s) and ensure the procedure is performed safely.
How many sessions are required for complete tattoo removal?
The size, color, and age of the tattoo are some variables that affect how many Picoway treatment sessions are necessary for completed tattoo removal. On average, it takes anywhere from six to ten sessions spaced six to twelve weeks apart to remove a tattoo completely.
Is the Picoway laser treatment painful?
While pain tolerance varies from person to person, most of our clients describe the sensation as similar to getting a tattoo or being snapped by a rubber band. However, numbing cream can be applied before the treatment to minimize discomfort, and our Sub Z chiller, which blows icy cold air on the treatment site, can be used to make it more comfortable during the treatment session.
Are there any side effects from the Picoway laser?
The Picoway laser has minimal side effects. Some clients might experience redness, swelling, or mild discomfort in the treatment area, which typically will subside within a few days. Rarely, there might even be temporary changes in skin color or scarring.
How long does the Picoway laser treatment take to start showing results?
Most clients experience noticeable fading after a few treatments, though results vary based on the patient and their tattoo. It may take several months to a year to remove completely.
