How does electrolysis work?
During an electrolysis session, a thin wire filament (probe) is inserted into each individual hair follicle. A small amount of electric current then passes through the probe, damaging the hair follicle at the base called the dermal papilla and preventing it from producing new hair. This process is repeated for each unwanted hair. There is mild erythema and minimal swelling that only lasts a short time.
Does electrolysis hurt?
The sensation of electrolysis can vary from person to person. Some people may experience minimal discomfort or a slight stinging sensation, while others may find it much more uncomfortable. However, most people report that the discomfort is tolerable and decreases with each session. A topical numbing agent can be applied prior to minimize any discomfort.
